How Anxiety Therapy Works

Your life feels controlled by your fear.

First off, our therapist will help you dive into those thoughts that keep swirling around in your head, thoughts that lead to fear, worry and doubt. We will teach you how to challenge the thoughts to see if they're true. In challenging the thoughts, you will be encouraged to face your fears or triggers with support allowing you to live your life regardless of worries.

We'll explore activities that bring you joy and fulfillment, giving you a break from the stress of life and boosting your mood in the process including mindfulness and relaxation. Our therapists are equipped to teach you simple techniques to help you stay grounded in the present moment, even when things feel overwhelming.

Of course, we'll also work on strengthening your parenting skills, giving you the confidence and know-how to navigate tricky situations. And because our therapists know that your trauma is a big part of your story, we'll tackle that too, creating a safe space for you to explore your experiences and heal from the past.

FAQs about Anxiety Work

  • Ideally, therapy starts weekly and decreases as the relationship between you and your therapist develops and goals are met. Of course, our therapists meet you where you are and create a personalized schedule that works best for you.

  • This is an excellent question. Therapy lasts on average 6 months to a year. However, it depends on goals being worked on, level of commitment and effort spent in and outside of the therapy office. Some clients choose to stay in therapy for as short a period as possible, meeting their initial goals and ending the service. Others stay in therapy for years choosing to work on new goals as progress is made.

  • I get it. The thought of facing fears, especially those that you currently avoid at all costs sounds terrifying. The bottom line is, if you are not ready or do not want to, you do not have to. However, therapy will provide you with the tools to navigate and tolerate the distress that comes with facing fears.

  • It's understandable to feel torn between caring for your child and focusing on your own goals. However, it is absolutely critical that you take care of yourself in order to best support your child. Only by meeting your needs first, will you be able to fully support your child in getting the help they need.

Now imagine feeling…

  • confident in your decisions and actions;

  • secure in your parenting choices;

  • calm and regulated when your child has an emotional meltdown;

  • free from your fears, able to live the life you dream of.

You are so much stronger than you know. Take the next step in finding this strength by scheduling a consultation.
